Asheville Impressions - Celebrating Asheville NC

When I first met these children, it was winter and they were just off the school bus. There were about eight of them in a row on the couch of a lady who watches them until their parents come home. They all had their colourful winter coats on and they smiled back at me like a row of bright, friendly little birds lined up on a perch. And I didn't have my camera. Here they are some months later.

What intrigues me beyond how beautiful they all are, is that it seems obvious these are not usual American faces. And if you study them, you may get the feel of somewhere a little east of Eastern Europe; the Ukraine.

She said, "...just before the Big Bang? That's a difficult question. Most of the kids think the Universe has three basic ingredients; matter, space and the miracle of consciousness. Personally, recent experience makes me suspect Edy's Grand Sherbet and Cream plays a large part. Have you tried the Strawberry?"

Their parents have come to Asheville to live and these children are now part of the United States. In a few generations, after you and I have left this incarnation, maybe someone in the future will see the Ukraine in the descendants of these children. Hope so. They are beautiful.
Here's a really easy one for Lori at Earth Fare. She makes me feel at home whenever I go there and she likes to guess locations of photos.
Night claims Patton Avenue and the mountains beyond. But the Land Rover makes it look a bit like London.
I liked the colour on this young lady, but have no idea where she is. the reflection in the car window shows a sign which looks like a street number. Have to ask Lori. I get a Malaprop's feeling.

We're back at that window I said I'd return to on Battery Park Avenue. The Window of Earthly Delight.
More colour, colour, colour, colour, colour.

Sitting outside the Grove Arcade; not allowed inside.

Isn't this what a miracle is? This is the dirt of the Earth transforming itself and bursting into blossoms.

Who do you think it's for?
